About me / Teaching philosophy
Hello and welcome! My name is Angelica Lopez, and I am an artist and aspiring art educator. I am a first-generation Hispanic from Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas, and I have two siblings. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and have a deep passion for fostering creativity in others.
I believe that art is a powerful and essential tool for expression and connection. My goal as an educator is to make a meaningful impact by helping students feel comfortable expressing their creativity and imagination. I want to create a space where they can explore their artistic voice with confidence. Through art, I also strive to teach students how to develop a holistic perspective—one that encourages them to apply creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression to their own lives beyond the classroom.
My favorite mediums are painting, drawing, and photography, and I love making art with others. Outside of my creative practice, I enjoy walking my dogs, exploring new artistic techniques, and finding inspiration in everyday life.
Feel free to explore my website and discover my journey in art and teaching. I’ve included a few photos of the things I love, and I look forward to learning about what inspires you too—see you in the classroom soon!
